Italy
Italy is a beautiful land full of contrasts. Although
it is characterized predominantly by two mountain chains:
the Alps, 600 miles east to west with peaks rising to over
14,000 feet including the Matterhorn, and the Apennines. The
chain is lower in the eastern sector, although the mountains,
the Dolomites, are still of extraordinary wonder. Then there's
the lakes, the rolling hills, the glorious golden beaches
of the
Mediterranean coastline. Wonderful architecture, ruins, foods
and wines and art and music, small forgotten hamlets,
and more.......
Italy has a temperate climate. Nevertheless, the weather
varies considerably according to how far you are from the
sea or the mountains. The winter is very cold in the Alps,
cold and foggy in the Po Plain and the central Apennines;
mild and even warm on the Ligurian coast, the Neapolitan coast
and in Sicilia. The summer is hot and dry, but the temperature
is mitigated on the coast by sea breezes and in the Apennines
and Alps it is pleasantly cool. In mountain areas, winter
is ideal for skiing, and summer for excursions, hiking, etc.
Seaside and lake resorts, with their excellent hotel facilities,
have an intense tourist season in the summer, while the cities
that are rich in art treasures are ideal in spring and autumn.
Today, Italy is a highly-developed country with the
7th-highest GDP and the 17th-highest Human Development Index
rating in the world. It is a member of the G8 and a founding
member of what is now the European Union, of the Council of
Europe and of the Western European
Union. It is considered by some as a great power.
Italian property market :Italy offers superb beauty coupled
with very good potential for capital growth on property investments
in the Italian property market. It is becoming more popular
year on year and flying to Italy has been revolutionised by
the arrival of budget airlines. Italy also offers amazing
variety in terms of the type of properties for sale and the
prices. Property prices are increasing at about 10% to
15% per year and, whilst Italy has always been one of
the most desirable and therefore one of the most expensive
places to buy a holiday home, that is until now, please
look at our fabulous offerings....
Calabria is the most southern province of Italy's mainland.
With it's 750 km long coast it offers long, sandy and mostly
completely empty beaches. In Calabria you can enjoy the authentic,
unspoilt southern Italy and in many villages time has stood
still and life is very quiet and tranquil.
From coast to coast it's only 40 kilometres and to cross the
mountains coast to coast is an exceptional experience. The
roads are good and safe and you can enjoy the vast nature,
maybe stop and have lunch at an 'agriturismo' before arriving
at the other coast for a cooling
swim.
Tropea, also known as the pearl of Calabria, was recently
named by the Sunday Times as its top beach holiday destination
ahead of more famous locations in Ibiza, France and Sardinia.
Described as having a superb white sandy beaches by the turquoise
Tyrrhenian Sea, Tropea pulls off a rare trick by managing
to be both unspoilt and fashionable. The town is a maze of
steep narrow streets, Renaissance churches and beautiful pastel
coloured palazzos and is becoming one of the most sought-after
places in Calabria for British and Irish homeowners as prices
are still low
