Dubai
Dubai is the second largest of the emirates that make
up the UAE and has a sub-tropical arid climate. Temperatures
range between 30c and 10c in winter and can reach as high
as 48c in summer. Arabic is the national language although
English is widely spoken in the business world. Take

Dubai is an amazing place with luxury all around. The
level of development currently taking place within Dubai is
massive and some say a whole new world is being created. This
is definitely a place to invest for the future, in
a country that has enough
land to create only the best of everything from scratch, you
can be assured that when it is completed in 5 or 6 years time,
Dubai will be attracting people from all over the world to
showcase what are perhaps considered to be some of the
most spectacular projects in history.
Last year 4 million tourists visited Dubai with the forecast
of 15 million visitors by 2010, and 58.5 million arrivals
to the region by 2020 which represents an annual growth rate
of 7.1%. There are plans to increase Airport capacity in
Jebel-Ali to 60 million passengers a year, making it almost
as busy as London Heathrow
Dubai is currently undertaking one of the most impressive
construction projects in history. A host of spectacular
facilities will be built right on the shores of the Arabian
Gulf including
- Dubailand,
- Three Palms,
- Marina development,
- Dubai Waterfront and
- of course, perhaps the most spectacular of all, The World.
Dubailand will contain over 200 tourism, leisure and
entertainment sub- projects, making it the most ambitious
tourist destination ever created. Dubailand is being created
to appeal to the widest audience of tourists ,
covering all age groups, nationalities and activities. On
completion, Dubailand theme park will be twice the size
of Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. Divided into 6
themed worlds and comprising over 200 individual projects,
Dubailand will feature state of the art sporting facilities,
theme parks, eco-tourism resorts, museums, galleries, spas
and stunning shopping and recreation venues.
There are some very important cultural differences to respect
when in Dubai, for example, Alcohol is available in hotels
but not outside, tourist photography is generally accepted
but do not take photos of Muslim women and always ask men
before taking a picture, it is only courteous. Most businesses
close early on a Thursday, and Friday is the weekend in the
Islamic world.
Modern Dubai traces it's origins back to the 1830's and by
1870 was referred to as the principal port of the Gulf. Much
of its history is  carefully
preserved in the myriad of its magnificent forts, mosques
and palaces. Courtesy and hospitality are among the most
highly prised virtues in the Arab world and visitors will
be charmed by the warmth and friendliness of the people.
